Joanna Rocha Downs

Joanna Rocha Downs (Atty. Tara/Atty. Downs) was born in Manila, Philippines and speaks Tagalog fluently. After finishing high school in the Philippines, she migrated to the United States in 2003 to join her family. She completed her college degree and juris doctorate in the United States with cum laude honors and is a licensed U.S. immigration attorney.

Prior to joining Tancinco Law, Tara practiced in the area of workers’ compensation defending employers, insurance carriers and governmental entities under California worker’s compensation law. She joined Tancinco Law in January 2022 with the hope of helping aliens, immigrants and their families follow their dreams of gaining lawful status, reuniting with their family members and improving their livelihood by obtaining work authorization/work visa in the U.S.

Atty. Downs is licensed to practice law in the State of California and is authorized to practice nationwide for immigration cases. In addition to filing various applications and waivers for her clients with USCIS, she reviews and appears for adjustment and naturalization interviews and represents aliens in deportation proceedings before the EOIR and BIA.

During her free time, she enjoys reading fantasy novels, light novels, and web novels. She also enjoys watching NBA games, binging shows on TV and spending time with her husband and two boys.
