A concerned lola asks Atty Lou the following question on behalf of her apo:
My daughter who is a green card holder gave birth here in the U.S. which means that the baby is a citizen by birth. Due to the high cost of childcare, my daughter is planning to bring the baby to the Philippines to stay with her Dad while waiting for her husband to come to the United States.
How long can the baby stay in the Philippines? My daughter is planning to report my granddaughter’s birth with the Philippine Embassy in order to gain dual citizenship but despite that, I am still worried because my granddaughter may have a difficult time returning to the United States. What is your advice?
